Is there a treatment for osteoporosis? How is osteoporosis diagnosed? How does the bone density test define osteoporosis? And, who should have a bone density test?

Dr. Simin Torabzadeh, is a Clinical Professor in the Division of General Internal Medicine and Primary Care Department of Medicine, University of California, Irvine. She is Board certified, Diplomate, American Board of Internal Medicine, 1994, 2004, 2014 with subspecialty Certification in Geriatrics, 1996, 2006, 2016. She has had many academic appointments and non academic appointments including: Research Physician for Protein Kinase C-Beta Inhibitor Diabetic Macular Edema Study and Primary Physician in charge of Alzheimer's Disease Research Gero-Psych, UCIMC. Dr. Torabzadeh has received many honors and awards including Excellence in Teaching Award UCI school of Medicine in 2004, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 and Certificate of Merit (ACP) National Associates Clinical Vignette Competition, Washington D.C, 1993. She is a member of several professional organizations. She has given several invited presentations, on osteoporosis, Healthy Aging, geriatric issues, dementia, Sexuality & Aging, prostate cancer, biology of aging, Preventive Health, Care for the Aging, Polypharmacy, Neurologic Diseases, Travel Medicine , and Problem Solving (Board Review). Her publications focus on various issues including use of diuretics in hypertensive diabetics, Syncope: causes, diagnosis and treatment and Erythema multiforme.
